Hey everyone, I am facing an issue the past few days that i would highly appreciate your guys insight regarding this... If anyone could find me a solution for this i will be your slave for ever. a friend of mine which has hundreds of thousands followers on his instagram account was a victim of a phishing attack which accidently sent the hacker a picture of himself holding an ID document (passport), the hacker then used these documents to somehow get access to his account. (probably sent the documents to instagram pretending that he is the owner and asked them to give him access). the hacker then changed the email, password and mobile phone of that account. then the hacker sent an email to my friend blackmailing and etc... which of course we didnt pay the hacker. as of this moment, the hacker decided to return him the account stating that he has 2 days to send him the money or else he will do this again (since he has his documents) but this time he will permentaly delete the account. Now the thing is that since the hacker has his documents, no matter what my friend will do, the hacker can always get access to the account using the instagram recovery process with his ID. even if we open him a new account the hacker can use these documents to get access to EVERY accoutn that he might open. So my question is... What on earth can be done in order to secure the account? does anyone has any idea? We already tried to contact instagram or facebook support - but the problem is that there is no way to get to a human being over there inorder to explain them this, since everything is being done automaticly. all support sections are just simple FAQ and auomatic recovery methods...
